LYCIAN CITIES AND COST LINE TOUR FROM ANTALYA (5 Days-4 Nights)
DAY 1 – Phaselis-Myra-St.Nicholas Church-Sunken City-Kas
Depart from the Hotel at Antalya and drive to Kemer,first join the lunch then vist Phaselis, It is a city of natural harbors of which she had at least three. Near the car park is the northern harbor, next to this the naval base, and to the south the southern harbor, popular today with swimmers and yachts. The two small islets on the northern harbor were joined to the mainland by a pier which extended from the walls around the promontory.In this once favored port of ancient times, the visitor can find many ancient ruins. Then drive to visit Myra and St.Nicholas Church. Myra: Some of the finest examples of Lycian funerary architecture are to be found at Myra, near the explanding present day town of Demre. The site,about a mile from the town includes a vast Roman theater in good repair and build against a cliff face that olso houses too impressive sets of Lycian tombs. Many of the tombs have long cabin features carved into the rocks,presumably reflecting the domestic architecture of the period.Carvings above are mostly in poor repair but the overall effect to this jumple of the architecture of death is dramatic.St. Nicholas Church: Best known as the patron saint of children, who was born at Patara around AD.300 and bishop of Myra where he died. The miracles he performed in life time and stories that surrounded him have identified today in the west with father Christmas.Then Drive to Ucagiz village to catch a boat to explore the ruins of a Roman sunken city, tour Kekova Islands.Overnight Kas.
DAY – 2 Kas-Patara-Leton-Xantos-Fethiye
Explore Xanthos, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and Patara, a major naval and trading port of Lycia. Continue to the picturesque fishing village of Gocek. Overnight at your Hotel in fethiye.
DAY – 3 Dalyan-Kusadasi
After breakfast drive to Dalyan on the Koycegiz River and take a boat to explore ancient Caunos ,Rock cut Tombs,Mud Bath,Koycegiz lake and to see the great sea turtles at beautiful Iztuzu Beach.Swimming time at beatiful Iztuzu beach.Then drive to Kusadasi and Overnight in Kusadasi.
DAY – 4 Ephesus -Pamukkale (Cotton Castle)
Today we shall take a tour of Ephesus (Dep. at 08.00), the best-preserved and restored ancient city in Turkey, which is known to be the Commercial, the Religious and the Social Center of Antiquity. Begin our day with a visit to The Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Continue and explore the ancient city of Ephesus with its Great Theatre with a capacity of 24.000 spectators and Celsus Library, the Fountains of Trajan, the Temple of Hadrian and Domition, and Private Houses, the Basilica of St. John and the nearby Archaeological Museum Then we shall visit the House of the Virgin Mary, where she spent her final days. Then drive to Pamukkale and Overnight.
DA Y 5 – Pamukkale-Antalya
In Pamukkale, you will see the Cotton Cliffs, one of the natural wonders of the world formed by deposits of calcareous salts. Also visit the ancient ruins of the City of Hierapolis with its basilica , theatre and Roman Baths. Down to town for Lunch then drive to Antalya.Overnight in Antalya.
